there are three types of materials: HSS( High-Speed-Steel), HSSE and Carbide.


HSS

Since 1910, HSS has been used as a cutting tool for more than a century, it is currently the most widely used and cheapest cutting tool material. the drill bit of high speed steel can be used not only in flash drills, but also in more stable environments such as drilling machines. another reason for the long-lasting of high speed steel may be that high speed steel knives can be repaired repeatedly. due to their chepa price, they are not only used to grind into drill bits, but also widely used in turning knives.


HSSE

Cobalt-containing high speed steel has better hardness and red hardness than high speed steel, the increase in hardness also improves its wear resistance, but also sacrifices part of its toughness. Like high speed stell, they can increase the number of times they use them through grinding.


Carbide

Carbide is a metal-based composite. Among them, tungsten carbide is used as the matrix, and some materials of other materials are used as adhesives to make a series of complex processes such as sintering by thermal isostatic pressure. Compared with high-speed steel, it has a huge improvement in hardness, red hardness, wear resistance, etc. However, the cost of cemented carbide knives is also much more expensive than that of high-speed steel. Carbide has more advantages over previous tool materials in tool life and processing speed. Professional grinding tools are needed for the repeated grinding of tools.
