Coatings can be roughly divided into the following five types according to the scope of use.
1. No coating:
Uncoated knives are the cheapest and are usually used to process aluminum alloys, low-carbon steel and other soft materials.
2. Black oxidation coating:
oxidationcoating:Oxidation coating can provide better lubrication than uncoated tools, better antioxidation and heat resistance, and can improve its service life by more than 50%.
3. Titanium nitride coating:
Titanium nitride is the most common coating material and is not suitable for materials with high hardness and high processing temperature.
4. Titanium carbon nitride coating:Titanium carbon nitride is developed from titanium nitride and has higher high temperature and wear resistance, usually purple or blue. It is used to process cast iron workpieces in Haas's workshop.
5. Aluminum -titanium nitride coating:
Aluminum-titanium nitride is more resistant to high temperature than all the above coatings, so it can be used in a higher cutting environment. For example, processing high-temperature alloys. It also applies to the processing of steel and stainless steel, but because it contains aluminum, chemical reactions will occur when processing aluminum, so it is necessary to avoid processing aluminum-containing materials.
